What setup covers
Before Slate can help, it needs a few things about your brand and a connection to your data. Setup takes only a few minutes, and it makes everything else in Slate more accurate. You are getting five things in place: your brand, your data, your knowledge, what you track, and your team.
The pieces
Your Brand Kit
In Assets, your Brand Kit is where you tell Slate who you are: your brand details, your tone of voice, and your competitors. It is what lets Cowork write in your voice, and the competitors you add here are who your visibility is measured against across the platform.
Your data connections
Connect Google Search Console and GA4 so your page and keyword data flow into your Pages and Google Search reports. Connect your CMS, such as Webflow or WordPress, so Slate can publish the content it creates or updates.
Your Knowledge Base
Also in Assets, the Knowledge Base holds reference material Slate can draw on when it works, so its output stays grounded in what is true about your product and your space.
What to track
In LLM Search, add the prompts your buyers ask AI. In Google Search, add the keywords you want to rank for. This is what fills your Insights reports over time. Both have their own videos, so you do not need to perfect this now.
Your team
Invite your team so everyone works in the same place, on the same brand and data.
How you do it
- Open Assets and fill in your Brand Kit: brand details, voice, and competitors.
- Connect your data sources, Search Console and GA4, and your CMS.
- Add reference material to your Knowledge Base.
- Add a first set of prompts in LLM Search and keywords in Google Search.
- Invite your team.
Getting started
Do the essentials first: your Brand Kit (especially voice and competitors) and your data connections. Those two unlock the most value straight away. You can add knowledge, tracking, and teammates as you go.
Summary (quick recap)
In short, give Slate your brand, your data, your knowledge, and what to track, and the rest of the platform has everything it needs.
