Slate notifies you when something needs your attention, such as a failed workflow run, an approval, or a mention. Notifications appear in your Inbox, and Slate also emails you a digest.

Why It Matters

Notifications point you to the work that’s waiting on you. Click one and you land on the run, task, or comment that triggered it.

Where to Find It

  • Inbox — click the bell icon on the sidebar rail. A badge shows your unread count.
  • Notifications page — in the Inbox, click View all notifications →.
Notifications belong to a workspace. Switch workspaces to see notifications from another one.

What You Get Notified About

You follow a task when you created it, are assigned to it, commented on it, or were mentioned in it. Slate doesn’t notify you about your own comments, mentions, or task changes.

Use the Inbox

The Inbox shows your most recent notifications. Unread ones have a dot.
  1. Click the bell icon on the sidebar rail.
  2. Click a notification to open it. Slate marks it as read.
  3. Click Mark all read to clear the unread count.
Recipe run notifications open in a side panel on the Notifications page.

Use the Notifications Page

The Notifications page lists everything, 10 per page. The header shows your unread count, or “You’re all caught up.” Each row shows the Notification, its Category, and when it was Received.
  1. Click a row to open it. Recipe runs and tasks open in a side panel, so you stay on the page.
  2. Hover over a row to see quick actions:
    • Mark as read
    • Archive — removes the notification from your list.
    • Snooze — hides the notification until Later today (3h), Tomorrow morning, or Next week. It comes back when the snooze ends.
  3. Click Mark all read to mark everything as read.

Email Digest

The email digest is on by default. Slate groups notifications into emails instead of sending one email per event:
  • Urgent items arrive in an email shortly after they happen. These include approvals, Cowork runs waiting on you, mentions, comments, and recipe reviews.
  • Everything else goes into a daily digest.
Each digest email has a Manage notifications link back to Slate, and may include an unsubscribe link.

Turn the email digest on or off

  1. Open the Notifications page. In the Inbox, click View all notifications →.
  2. Click Preferences. The Manage notifications dialog opens.
  3. Turn Email digest on or off.
  4. Click Save preferences.
The setting applies to the current workspace only. Repeat these steps in each workspace you want to change.

Get Notifications in Slack

Slack channels can post updates such as workflow runs and approvals. These channel notifications are set up per channel, not in your personal preferences. See Slack: Receive notifications.

Troubleshooting

  • I’m not getting digest emails. Check that Email digest is on in Preferences for that workspace. If you clicked an unsubscribe link in a digest, turn Email digest back on.
  • A notification disappeared. You may have archived or snoozed it. Snoozed notifications return when the snooze ends.
  • I don’t see a notification from another workspace. Notifications are per workspace. Switch to that workspace.
